Red River Flood Sunday River Crest

Out city has breathed a collective sigh of relief. The Red River crested at 36.99 feet yesterday (Sunday 3/21). There were a few homes that called for emergency flooding overnight–Guard troops came to their rescue. But no major areas were completely lost.  For instance, last year Oak Grove High School, along the river, lost a flood wall and the school was unusable for the rest of the school year.

Our friend, Michael Orchard sent us some pictures near crest time of Jackie’s house. He even got a picture of a displaced beaver in her backyard. He said the squirrels have been hanging out on the deck, kind of standing with front hands (paws) together in a prayer position. Ducks have also been spotted close to the new shore line.
